The Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen VZW is a University College with eleven departments and more than 6,400 students, and it has always been an impulse for regional development in the Kempen, a dynamic region in Flanders, the Dutch speaking part of Belgium.
Among the eleven departments are the Health Care and Chemistry department, which offers education for orthotic and prosthetic and shoe technicians. The Biosciences and Technology department offers the Masters in Applied Engineering Education. With a specialised central lab, MOBILAB (the Central Research Laboratory for Biomedical and Rehabilitation Technology), for prosthetic and orthotic and rehabilitation projects, Kempen has joint expertise in engineering and health departments.
The majority of ongoing research projects are in cooperation with other National and International Universities and/or SMEs.
